Smashing WordPress: Beyond the Blog, 3rd Edition is out now

I’ll keep this short and sweet: Smashing WordPress: Beyond the Blog, 3rd Edition is out now and you can get it from your favorite retailer. Mine is Amazon, and should you agree with me then by all means use this link to kick some affiliate money my way.

A short FAQ might be in order:

I already own a previous edition, should I buy this one too?
Absolutely, and I actually really mean that. A lot of things have happened since the second and first edition of this book, and some old solutions have become obsolete. The new book also abides to the PHP code standards that WordPress have moved towards, which is important obviously.

I’m thinking of starting a blog with WordPress, will this book help me?
This book is aimed at developers and designers. It doesn’t tell you how to create posts or work with widgets. There are other books and tutorials for that.

I’m a developer, what do I need to know to use your book?
HTML, CSS, and basic knowledge of PHP is needed. If you know a thing or two about MySQL, that might help. Finally, you should take WordPress for a spin as a user before diving into this book.

This sounds awesome, but I already own a previous edition. Why won’t you just update it?
Would that I could, but there’s a lot of work in writing a new book and I do need to get paid. Also, my publisher would never allow it. Who knows what the future will hold though?

Sold! Or rather, it will be, where can I buy this book?
At any fine online book retailer or at your favorite book store, although they might have to order it in since it’s brand spankin’ new! If you want to feed my coffee addiction, use the affiliate links on my store page.

Finally, I’d like to thank Chris, Ellie, Kate and Sara at Wiley, as well as my excellent editor Dana, for their hard work. An extra hat tip thank you to Justin as well, for great insights, thoughts and ideas. We really need to get together and discuss the future at length!
