Introducing Odd Alice

I’ve been working with WordPress for quite some time now. There is no shortage of gigs for me, it seems, and the fact that I rolled out some kind of excuse for a portfolio recently actually says more than you might think. Thing is, there never really was any need for presenting my work. My clients sold me better than anyone else could or would, me included.

That hasn’t changed. What did change was the fact that Smashing WordPress: Beyond the Blog came out. My book on WordPress obviously is a great reference and it means I’m getting a bunch of quote requests and questions. I like it, it’s great.

But I can’t manage. It is just too much.

So that’s why I’m finally doing what I probably should’ve done years ago. I’m launching my own design firm, tapping my great network of talented freelancers and opening up for more work. No, you might not get me 100% on your brand new site, but you’ll get someone great, and I’ll be hovering over his or her shoulder, you can count on that.

Say hello to Odd Alice, here for your WordPress needs.

Smashing WordPress: Beyond the Blog release party

Last night was the release party for my book Smashing WordPress: Beyond the Blog. The whole thing was in conjunction with an event called WPNight, in which I participated as a speaker, along with a couple of other excellent people from the Swedish WordPress community. Matt Mullenweg was there too, unfortunately not physically but via Skype, and he answered questions from the audience. All in all, WPNight was a nice event – if you know any Swedish be sure to check out the videos, the whole thing was recorded of course.

If you’re following me on Twitter or a fan on Facebook you already know this, but if you’re in the Manchester area in July, I urge you to pop by WordCamp UK. I’ll be hosting a session and talk WordPress with whoever who’ll listen. Hope to see you there!

If you’re a fan on Facebook you already know that the code downloads for Smashing WordPress: Beyond the Blog are on the way. Thought I’d share it here too.

My portfolio, sort of

It’s a first for me, I never did rely on portfolios for my design and WordPress services. However, I started to feel bad about it so I made a simple little thing that are in desperate need of some TLC. That’ll have to wait though, because despite the lack of a portfolio over the years, I’ve had no problems at all keeping busy. Strange really.

The portfolio resides on tdhedengren.com, as it always has. I’m keeping the blog separate.

Great news for Kindle owners and WordPress lovers alike! My book, Smashing WordPress: Beyond the Blog, is now available for Kindle as well. Check it out if you prefer to read it that way, link from the Amazon page of course.

Did you know that Smashing WordPress: Beyond the Blog is an excellent way to get more out of my theme, Notes Blog Core? You do know – read more over at the Notes Blog site.

The first reviews of my book Smashing WordPress: Behond the Blog are starting to pop up online. This one on Amazon is particularly appealing.

I decided to finally get that fan page up on Facebook. It is all about my writing, in English only, and a place to be for freebies and competitions as well as tidbits from my work. So fan me on Facebook, if you dare!
